One goal, one passion, making a global impact in teaching.
The power of teaching through a global exchange
Jet Mission
The purpose of JET is to provide a deep, transformative teaching experience for four teachers in Minnesota to travel to Jamaica to immerse themselves in the Jamaican education system, culture, and community. The Minnesota teachers will work side by side with the Jamaican teachers for one week and have the opportunity to learn and grow in their practice and thus take that knowledge back to their classrooms to share with their students and community. In turn, the Jamaican teachers will travel to Minnesota for a similar experience. Another key aspect of JET is to provide much needed school supplies and technology resources to the partner school.
Jet Goals
Our JET program launched in February of 2022. Our goals are to engage in a partnership with a Jamaican Primary School or Infant School to create a collaboration of idea sharing, teaching strategies, and evidence-based practices. We are hoping to create a partnership that is mutually beneficial in which both parties can learn and grow in a educational setting during the weeklong collaboration sessions.
Future Goals
- We will continue to build sustainable partnerships with schools in Minnesota and Jamaica.
- We would like to add an administrator from both Minnesota and Jamaica to future trips to deepen our mission and partnership.
- We will develop a rigorous external program evaluation to understand the impact of our work on teachers and students and to continue to work towards our values of engaging in programing that centers educational equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- We will continue to seek funding resources to sustain and grow our program.
